 ENDS 9/13- The three day Battle of the Badges Blood Drive at Kirkwood mall will be held 11a-7p on Thursday, September 11 through Saturday, September 13. A friendly but competitive event between Bismarck-Mandan Law Enforcement and Fire Departments to see which agency can donate and recruit the most donors.  Contact United Blood Services for more information or to schedule a donation appointment.

Charles Hall Youth Service’s 7th Annual Footin it for Fun Walkathon will be held on Sunday, September 14 at the Dakota Zoo in Bismarck’s Sertoma Park. Registration starts at 1p and the Walk at 2p. Proceeds will benefit the at risk foster care youth served by Charles Hall Youth Services. The Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery in Riverdale will hold their 19th Annual Physically Challenged Children’s Fishing Event on Saturday, September 13 from 11a-2p. Fishing tackle, bait, rods and reels will be provided and lunch will be served. Contact the Garrison Dam Nation Fish Hatchery at 701-654-7451 to register.

Friends of the Morton Mandan Public Library Used Book sale will be held on Friday, September 5 from 7a-7p and on Saturday, September 6 from 7a-2p. Shop and purchase videos, DVDs, audiobooks and more for 25 cents each at the Morton County Highway Shop bookmobile garage at 2916 37th St NW in Mandan. Call 667-5365 for more information.

The Bismarck High Demonettes will be selling popcorn balls at Race Day Lube and Wash at South 12th St and University Drive from 8a-4p on Saturday, September 6.

Bismarck Hockey Boosters will have an All Girls Hard Water Party open to all girls in Bismarck/Mandan to learn more about Hockey. Enjoy an evening of skating, hockey, ice games, food and refreshments on Sunday, Sept 7 from 4p-7:45p at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck.

St. Hildegard’s Church in Menoken will hold its 61st Annual Fall Dinner at the church 10 miles East of Bismarck on Hwy 10 from 11a-4p. Bake sale, white elephant booth, bingo, crafts and more.

Farmer’s Market/Flea Market/Craft Sale will be held each Monday through out September from 10:30a-2:30p on Main Street in Hazelton. All may come and shop or set up a table and sell your wears. Hosted by the Hazelton Development Corporation.

Bismarck Mandan Animal Impound Facility is looking for volunteers to help with the animals at the shelter.  Contact the Police Dept at 223-1212 if you’d like to help.

One hour, one child, one hour a week for one year. Mentor a child of an incarcerated parent today through the Chips Program. Call RSVP at 258-5436 to get involved. Make a difference and mentor.
